You can be forgiven for thinking John Legend has come out of nowhere. His second solo CD, Get Lifted (Columbia), was only released at the end of this past December, coincidentally on his birthday. Within two weeks, it had shot up to the top of the R&B charts, and it’s only continued its upward trajectory since then. You probably watched his performance at the Grammys, heard his music in the soundtrack to for the new Will Smith movie, Hitch, have been offered an exclusive glimpse at his new music video on AOL, and perhaps even caught him opening for Alicia Keys on her spring Diary tour. Quite literally, John Legend is everywhere.
