Jimmy Stofer: Stepping In

Forget all that talk about nice guys finishing last: The career of the Fray’s Jimmy Stofer proves that what you say and how you say it is as important as what and how you play. “There weren’t many bass players in my town, let alone guys who weren’t egomaniacs,” he says. “I was able to get along with people, so when I was hungry for experience I got to play all the time. That always landed me in the right place at the right time.” Stofer’s latest right place is in piano-driven rock band the Fray, and the right time was just before they signed with Epic Records, which released the band’s gold debut album, How to Save a Life.
