Hammond Pro XK-System

For standing up onstage and playing rock and soul, the Hammond XK-1 reviewed on page 52 is as much organ as many keyboard players will ever use. Some organists, though, have a real need for two manuals. Split zones and frantic preset changes on a single keyboard just won’t fly for a jazz cat who’s kicking bass, accompaniment, and melody in an organ trio, for example. Hammond has come up with a solution for those who want the option of two manuals and a full pedalboard, and the way it neither forces you into a large-console form factor, nor locks you out of it, is truly unique.
