Guitar Player Presents Peter Frampton July 15 at Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA – Win Tickets!

Peter Frampton is an icon, and his live show is the stuff of legend. His breakthrough 1976 release, Frampton Comes Alive!, was recorded in San Francisco at Winterland. It’s still one of the top-selling live recordings in history, and Frampton is still a top concert attraction over thirty years later. Guitar Player is thrilled to be working with Live Nation to present Frampton at the absolutely gorgeous Mountain Winery in lovely Saratoga, CA.

Frampton had already paid a decade of dues by the time his music reached the masses. He was a member of The Herd before founding Humble Pie with Small Faces frontman Steve Marriot in 1969. He played on George Harrison’s first solo record, All Things Must Pass, before embarking on his own solo career in 1971.

The sound of Frampton’s signature three-pickup Les Paul through a Marshall stack epitomizes arena rock, and, of course, Frampton will forever be associated with the talk box effect. He used it extensively on Frampton Comes Alive!, and can currently be seen using it in a spoof Geico commercial where the good-humored Brit does a great parody of his famous “Do You Feel Like We Do” performance.

Frampton’s most recent release—2006’s Fingerprints—was an entirely instrumental affair that included a clever cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun,” and featured guest appearances by Warren Haynes, Mike McCready (Pear Jam), and master of the Django Reinhardt guitar style, John Jorgenson. Frampton recently teamed up with Robert and Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots to write a batch of new songs. Robert DeLeo told Bass Player that the brothers hope to record with Frampton after the STP reunion tour ends in November.

Come help Guitar Player give Peter Frampton a warm, California welcome at the amazing Mountain Winery, and mark your calendars to note that the next Guitar Player Presents shows: Sonny Landreth at the Great American Music Hall on Friday August 1, and Jonny Lang/Big Head Todd at the Mountain Winery on August 15.
