Guitar Player is proud to work with Goldenvoice to present one of the guitar’s most fearless boundary breakers, or, as his Web site describes him, “The world's greatest experimental whammy twang bar czar rhino king crimson stunt guitarist!”
Adrian Belew is famous for making otherworldly sounds with Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, David Bowie, and King Crimson. In GP’s 25 Anniversary Issue, Belew was counted among “25 Players Who Shook the World.”
For the “2 of a Perfect Trio” tour, King Crimson members Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto have combined the forces of their trios—the Adrian Belew Power Trio, and Stick Men. The performance will feature two sets with an extended encore. Stick Men will start off the evening. Stick Men features Mastelotto on electronic and acoustic percussion, Levin on Chapman Stick, Markus Reuter on a Touch Guitar he helped design. Next up will be the Adrian Belew Power Trio featuring Belew on guitar and vocals, bassist Julie Slick, and drummer Tobias Ralph. Belew, Levin and Mastelotto will then play some of their favorite pieces from their work in King Crimson. “King Crimson is an elite club,” said Belew in a PR statement. “There have only been seven members in the last 30 years. Having Tony, Pat and myself onstage will make this as close as currently possible to the actual thing.”To make this concert even more colossal, the trios will combine to close out the show.“I’m very excited about the sound of the double trio," added Belew. “It’s monstrous.”
Belew will surely render monstrous tones on his Signature Parker Fly Deluxe, a cutting edge instrument with a Sustainiac pickup, an RMC piezo hex pickup, MIDI capability, and Line 6 Variax modeling technology.
