Gorillazs Feel Good, Inc.

Move over, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. If you grew up watching Saturday-morning TV, you might remember how cartoon bands like the Archies, Fat Albert & the Junkyard Band, and Josie & the Pussycats would glaze the morning with saccharine pop music. Since its 2001 self-titled Virgin debut, Gorillaz has put a darker spin on the cartoon-band concept. On its latest, Demon Days [Virgin], Gorillaz throws down a dynamic mix of hip-hop, rock, and electronica, teaming with hip-hop group De La Soul for the album’s first single, “Feel Good, Inc.” The band—a creation of Blur frontman Damon Alburn and graphic artist Jamie Hewlett—features bassist Murdoc Nicalls, a shady character who claims to be the creative force behind Gorillaz.
