Discrete Drums announces the launch of i-Studio.net, an online resource for musicians

I-Studio features NY, LA, Nashville and Philadelphia musicians, engineers and producers who can be booked online for a fraction of the cost of a regular studio session. Sessions start at $400 for a 3 hour block, and are conducted online via FTP transfer and real time chat. Users can discuss their needs before the session starts, and submit their tracks at the time of booking to give the players or engineers time to prepare. At the time of the session, a chat room is established, and MP3 files are exchanged to facilitate quick communication. At the end of the session, the finished files are uploaded to the i-Studio FTP site in the desired format.

Mix engineers are also available to mix Pro Tools and other session formats. Rates available upon request.

The i-Studio players and engineers have worked with artists such as:

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, The Police, Sting, Third Eye Blind, Wilco, Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, John Mellencamp, Johnny Rotten, Lenny Kravitz, James Brown, the Fugees, Billy Idol, James Taylor, Shawn Colvin, Meatloaf, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Osborne, Utopia, Enrique Iglesias, the Pretenders, Mick Jagger, the Fixx, G Love, Belinda Carlisle, Roger Waters, J. Geils, Megadeth, Anthrax, Alabama, Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Lauryn Hill, Kenny Chesney, Foreigner, Schooly D, Pat Metheny, Billy Joel, the Beach Boys, Hall & Oates, Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell, Ian Hunter, Taj Mahal, Rodney Dangerfield (yes THE Rodney Dangerfield) and many others.

Rick DiFonzo, President of Discrete Drums Inc. says, “Most people today are working in a vacuum, doing everything themselves. The problem with this approach is that no one can do it all well, and even if you come close, your music will always benefit from a different perspective, a different human getting his hands on it. Our players and engineers have a great deal of experience in a collaborative studio environment. A new idea, a different playing style, a great mix, these are the things we can provide.”

Musicians can also apply to become i-Studio artists. Says DiFonzo, “There are a lot of great players out there who have never gotten a break, and who have trouble getting enough work to sustain themselves. These less experienced players can find work here, and enable us to provide lower cost sessions.”
