David Ellefson

Like great singers, great bassists sell their lines with feel, nuance, and conviction, even in the heaviest of styles. David Ellefson is one of heavy music’s definitive players because he embodies those qualities while remaining committed to the genre’s intensity. With Megadeth he helped set the speed-metal standard, and since leaving the band in 2002, he’s upheld it with F5’s melodic metal, Temple Of Brutality’s menacing thrash, and now Killing Machine’s “power metal.” All three bands have new albums out, and if that weren’t enough to keep Dave busy, he’s also started a production company and does artist relations for Peavey.
