Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, the original girl-guitar company, is honored to welcome the multi-talented Elena Fox of Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, as an endorsed artist. As well as appearing on a hit TV show, Elena is the bass player and vocalist of Baltimore-based band, the Squaaks.

During her time at Ace of Cakes, Elena worked her way up from froster to decorator. In July of 2009, she was faced with the challenge of making a Daisy Rock cake for a client who played a Daisy Rock guitar. It was then that Elena fell in love with the guitars and was sent a Stardust Elite Bass in Midnight Burst a present for making such an incredible cake. Recently, Fox visited the Daisy Rock booth at the NAMM show in Anaheim and met the Daisy Rock team in person. She expressed interested in a guitar in addition to her rockin’ bass. She was then asked if she would like to become an endorsed artist.

Elena was beyond thrilled with her endorsement and offered this statement, “Naturally, as a new member of the Daisy Rock family, I'm totally psyched! I've admired Daisy Rock guitars and basses for a very long time, and find them as awesome sounding as they are adorable. When I started playing guitar at fifteen, I was in a world of guitar dudes and felt kind of intimidated—there was not that much encouragement for a girl to rock out. But, I put my reservations aside and continued to play, eventually playing bigger and bigger shows. The thing I like so much about the Daisy Rock family is that they are a guitar company built around encouraging women and girls of all ages to shred with the best of 'em. I wish I had something like this as a young player, but now as a Daisy Rock artist, it's great to have the opportunity to inspire other girls to follow their rock 'n' roll dreams.”

Leah Scarpelli of Bmore Live/Bmoretunes.com describes the Squaaks music as “effortless, yet innovative; straight forward, yet refined." The band pays respect to its late ’60s/early ’70s proto-punk influences (particularly the Kinks, T.Rex and the Beatles) while uniting a modern pop-rock sound (reminiscent of the Pixies and/or Nirvana) to create energetic and straightforward rock with a predisposition to focus slightly left of center.
