Sammy Hagar has played in Montrose, Van Halen and Chickenfoot, he’s launched a successful solo career, and he founded the Cabo Wabo tequila brand and restaurant chain as well as Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum.
Apparently, he still has a few things left to add to his resume. The Red Rocker announced this week that he’s going to host a show for AXS TV called Sammy Hagar's Rock 'n Roll Road Trip.
“The concept is that I go to people’s hometown and interview them, jam with them etc., or you go with me on a rock ’n roll road trip and see my routine,” Hagar writes on his blog.
There’s no start date for the show, but Hagar notes that so far he’s interviewed Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and jammed with him and Chickenfoot bassist Michael Anthony at Lee’s house.
“I’ve also filmed with Mickey Hart and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead in the San Francisco area, along with Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads, a neighbor of mine in Marin,” Hagar writes. “Going out do the girls from Heart in Seattle with a couple more Seattle bands to round that one out next. And many more to come!”
Hagar is currently touring with his new group, the Circle, which includes Michael Anthony, guitarist Vic Johnson (who performed with Hagar in the Waboritas) and drummer Jason Bonham. You find their tour dates at Hagar’s website.
Here’s the Circle performing the Van Halen track “Poundcake” from their live album At Your Service, out May 19 and available for preorder.
