Prince has announced he is returning with a new album this summer and releasing a 30th anniversary remastered deluxe edition of his breakthrough album Purple Rain.
A new agreement between Prince and Warner Bros. Records will allow the release of long-awaited, previously unheard music. The deal also covers every album Prince recorded for Warner Bros., dating from his 1978 debut through 1996’s Chaos and Disorder. Prince and Warner Bros. parted ways in the Nineties after a lengthy and often contentious relationship.
Prince says, "A brand-new studio album is on the way and both Warner Bros. Records and Eye are quite pleased with the results of the negotiations and look forward to a fruitful working relationship."
For Prince fans, the new partnership will open a veritable goldmine of music, starting with the Purple Rain remaster. For the first time, Prince will be releasing a digitally remastered, deluxe version of this classic album. Other projects will follow.
