On February 10 Guitar Aficionado was on hand at Rudy’s SoHo Music in New York City to help celebrate the book launch of Archtop Guitars: The Journey from Cremona to New York, the beautiful new tome from Rudy Pensa and photographer Vincent Ricardel. Surrounded by the stunning six strings on display at Rudy’s shop, guests were treated to performances from Bucky Pizzarelli, Ed Laub, Bob Gallo, Vic Juris, Russell Malone and others.
GA also served as a sponsor for a special VIP/press preview party for The Art of the Guitar: The Photography of Jonathan Singer, a new exhibition at the Morrison Hotel Gallery loft in SoHo. Curated by Bernard “Buzzy” Levine of Lark Street Music, the installation features Singer’s striking guitar images of Fenders, Gibsons, Gretschs, Martins, Monteleones, and other classic instruments. Says Levine, “Singer captures and honors the beauty and utility of these relics of American craftsmanship in a way befitting the majesty of their legendary sound.” We couldn’t agree more.
