The Beatles’ 1 hits compilation released in 2000 will be reissued on November 6 accompanied by music videos. You can watch a trailer for the release below.
The updated compilation will include a music CD plus a selection of music videos and “mini movies” and will be offered in two versions. The 1 release will include one video disc, while the deluxe 1+ set will feature two video discs, including previously unreleased videos, and a 124-page book.
The videos will also be released as stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray editions. The November 6 street date applies to all versions.
The 1 release includes 27 of the group’s Number One singles with clips for each song, and includes mixes in 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS HD surround. The 1+ set adds 23 more videos, including alternate versions of the clips. CDs for both sets contain new stereo mixes, and a double-LP on 180-gram vinyl is also planned.
“These videos and films are spectacular reminders of the era we lived in,” says Beatles bassist Paul McCartney, who contributed commentary to the videos. “They also rock!”
Adds drummer Ringo Starr, who filmed introductions to some of the videos, “I think it’s really interesting to see the videos we made, some of them incredible and some of them really incredible. How else would we have got to sit on a horse?”
All of the videos come from promotional films, TV appearances and other performances by the group, and were cleaned up and digitally enhanced for this edition, with audio provided from the original restored analogue tapes.
