WesFest, A Concert To Benefit The Wes Wehmiller Scholarship at Berklee College Of Music, To Take Place In Los Angeles on February 16, 2006

January 6, 2006

The concert will feature seven acts, all of whom were touched by the life of Wes Wehmiller (1971-2005), an extraordinarily talented bassist known for his work with Duran Duran, Missing Persons, and countless other projects in and around the Los Angeles and Vancouver areas. Wes was also a gifted photographer, whose work graces the CD artwork of several of the performing acts.

Mr. and Mrs. John Wehmiller and family and friends have established the Wes Wehmiller Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Berklee College Of Music for a deserving student in loving memory of their son, and in recognition of his contributions to music as a bassist. All net proceeds of this first annual WesFest will go to benefit the scholarship fund.

"This scholarship will be a permanent reminder of his musical spirit," Berklee College Of Music President Roger Brown said when first announcing the establishment of the scholarship. "Wes fits into what Ron Carter said: 'Nobody notices the bass player until they stop playing’ – well, we're sure noticing Wes now!"
