But even the most raucous songs on The Further Adventures of Los Straightjackets [Yep Roc] still sound as if they just emerged from the surf sporting baggies—which isn’t a bad thing. Guitarists Eddie Angel and Daddy-O Grande pile up enough chunky riffs and shimmering melodies to pack a Woodie, and a judicious use of ’60s-style effects tastefully enhances their smorgasbord of vintage tones (too bad the disc is only 30 minutes long). It’s just the thing for a summer fling. —Barry Cleveland
