Background: Originally a drummer, Coerver began playing guitar at the age of 14, and within two years had joined a band. He became proficient on guitar, drums, and keyboards—a skill set that enabled him to play the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, numerous other gigs throughout Louisiana and Texas, and the Monterey Blues Festival. Coerver released Backwater in 2003, and Waterfront in 2005, both of which showcase his bluesy Southern rock style with some “adult” chords thrown in for good measure. A great guitarist and a lyrical slide player, Coerver delivers intelligent lines, excellent phrasing, strong vibrato, and ripping pentatonic flurries.
