Each camp is two weeks long and culminates with the young rockers giving a live performance, in a professional live music venue – such as the Redstone Room at the River Music Experience (RME), here in Davenport, Iowa. 2009 marks RME’s fourth year as a national affiliate of Rock Camp USA. ROCK CAMP USA – DAVENPORT SCHEDULE 2009 Session #1 – June 15 thru 19, June 22 thru 25 rehearsals, 1-5 pm dailyJune 26 dress rehearsal in Redstone Room, noon-4 pmJune 27 concert in Redstone Room, noon-4 pm Session #2 – July 6 thru 10, July 13 thru 16 rehearsals, 1-5 pm dailyJuly 17 dress rehearsal in Redstone Room, noon-4 pmJuly 18 concert in Redstone Room, noon-4 pm Session #3 – July 20 thru 24, July 27 thru 30 rehearsals, 1-5 pm dailyJuly 31 dress rehearsal in Redstone Room, noon-4 pmAugust 1 concert in Redstone Room, noon-4 pm Rock Camp Rehearsals: Mon. through Fri., 1-5 pm, at CHRIST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2330 West 41st Street, Davenport, Iowa Dress rehearsals are held in Redstone Room at RME the second Friday, the day before the final concert. Note: Campers must be picked up from rehearsals by no later than 5 pm. Concerts will be held in the Redstone Room @ RME on Saturday afternoons, starting at noon and concluding by 4 or 5 pm. The Rock Camp USA experience goes far beyond just learning how to play a few rock songs with friends and other players, but delivers life lessons about working with others towards a common goal of creating, rehearsing and performing music as an artistic unit. Students rehearse for two weeks, record their dress rehearsal, and then perform live in the Redstone Room for family, friends and fans. The icing on the cake is when they receive a professionally-edited DVD of the show from Mediacom, as well as when the concerts air on Mediacom Connections Channel 22! Rock Camp USA activities include:Forming a band - picking your own material - rehearsing like pros - option to write your own original songs - refining your skills - taking home a CD recording of your dress rehearsal – improving teamwork abilities - working with seasoned area musicians – and performing live in a state-of-the-art venue.
