On May 6, Audioslave became the first U.S. rock band to play an outdoor show in Cuba. The free show, at Havana’s Anti-Imperialist Tribunal, was organized by the Instituto Cubana de la Musica, and was recorded for an upcoming DVD. As Tom Morello told Billboard, this event was a long time coming:
“We made overtures years ago, when we were in Rage Against the Machine, and, for one reason or another, had been unable to get it done. So this was a fulfillment of a dream.”
