The P140 Series features 88 weighted piano-sized keys, 64 notes of polyphony and more than 40 instrument voices. With the Yamaha Stereo Grand Piano voice, three separate layers of stereo samples provide reproduction of tone, harmonics and subtle details. And with the Graded Hammer (GH) keyboard, the action is as close to the real thing that you can get, according to Yamaha.
With the two-track adjustable tempo sequencer, you can record your original music, play along for practice, or even overdub a second part--Flash-ROM recording memory means songs don't disappear upon shut-down. Choose different voices for left- and right-hand parts in "Split" mode, or combine any two voices in "Dual" mode. Onboard effects include chorus and reverb, and those effects can be layered for additional warmth and ambiance.
Yamaha's PC Music Studio Kit (sold separately) will connect the instrument directly to any Windows compatible computer with a USB port for such activities as printing music, recording performances, and even virtual piano lessons. There are even two headphone jacks so that two people can enjoy playing and listening without disturbing the rest of the household.
These low-profile, lightweight models are available in traditional dark Rosewood (P140) or contemporary light woodgrain (P140S) finishes. An optional matching-finish stand is available for an additional $150 MSRP. Bundled accessories include a music rest, AC adapter and continuous sustain pedal.
