MyMusicPlayerTV.com is a user-generated content site for music players of all skill levels, all instruments and all genres. Musicians upload video clips of themselves or their bands, and share the clips with friends and family, create a user network, and meet and exchange ideas with other like-minded musicians.
“While sites such as YouTube have exploded the concept of content communities, their reach is typically too vast to offer musicians a focused and easily accessible forum in which to share purely musical content,” says Michael Molenda, Editor in Chief of Guitar Player. “MyMusicPlayerTV.com is that concentrated oasis where players of all different types of instruments, styles, ages, and skill levels can share lessons, gear reviews, performance clips, and other video content with a nurturing community of peers.”
MyMusicPlayerTV.com differs from other user-generated content sites by only featuring music-related video clips, and is intended to continue fostering the community of musicians and music enthusiasts that MPN has been growing for 40 years through their publications.
"The trend in UGC is clearly moving away from the ‘big bucket’ sites, and more toward the sites that are focused around a common interest and hosted by establish, trusted brands like Music Player," said Cynthia Francis, CEO of Reality Digital.
MyMusicPlayerTv.com is the latest addition to the MPN community of web sites. In March 2006, the company partnered with internet video broadcasting network TrueFire TV to launch Guitar Player TV (www.guitarplayertv.com), a Web-based on-demand video experience for guitar players of all levels that features thousands of video guitar lessons, exclusive interviews with top players, live performances, home recording tips, and information on new products. Since March, MPN has also launched Bass Player TV (www.bassplayer.tv), Keyboard TV (www.keyboardmag.tv), and later in the year, will launch EQ TV.
In addition to the online TV web properties, MPN’s core web sites, GuitarPlayer.com, BassPlayer.com, KeyboardMag.com, and EQMag.com lead the publishing market in instrument-specific web sites, including exclusive content not available anywhere else.
