Background: Caputo was introduced to the guitar at age five by his father, and soon became interested in jazz-fusion, progressive rock, and classical. He studied classical guitar at the University level, and learned from personal interactions with gifted musicians, as well as absorbing influences from recordings. Caputo’s influences include progressive rockers from Yes and Genesis to Spock’s Beard and Dream Theater, as well as solo guitarists such as Alex DeGrassi and Michael Hedges.

Caputo’s current band, Mind Sky, has a unique sound that is part fusion and part prog. Caputo is the quintessential progressive rock guitarist, demonstrating a command of textural elements, acoustic guitar technique, and a melodic lead style utilizing impressive legato phrasing.
