August 1, 2003

Michael Molenda is an original punk (mid '70s vintage) who is listed in WHO's WHO IN CALIFORNIA ROCK. Molenda is responsible for some (but not all) of the following myths:

• Launched San Francisco's first rock and roll multimedia show
• Punched out the Dead Kennedy's East Bay Ray for asserting that Eric Clapton was a better guitarist than Johnny Thunders,
• Published the Bay Area's first gear newsletter
• Opened two seminal "S.F. scene'" recording studios
• Dated" Germany's Nena - - singer of "99 Luftballons"
• Edited ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN from 1990-1998
• Has his name imprinted on a plaque hanging at Alcatraz
• Once set fire to Sammy Hagar's Ferrari (by accident)
• Told Pete Best that Ringo actually WAS the better Beatle drummer
• Is currently Editor-in-Chief of GUITAR PLAYER

So without further ado, here are Michael Molenda’s favorite recordings, in no particular order.
