Matthew Charles Heulitt Room to Run

February 1, 2011

Heulitt’s creative muse runs free on this inspired-sounding album, which ventures out of the jazz realm to utilize everything from rock grooves to pure noise as platforms for improvisation. Just when you hear his fluid chops harking to something familiar, this adventurous player shakes it up harmonically or tonally to keep the music sounding bold and unique. The jazz spirit is definitely alive and well here.
