Ready to kill an afternoon jamming in A major? All you need are some cool chords in that key (such as those in the breezy four-bar bossa groove in the first system below) and a comfortable scale fingering (see “A major scale” grid) for solos. Have a friend comp the catchy chords while you improvise over the top (and vice versa) for an extended diatonic throw-down. When you’re ready to end the jam, step out of the tonality with the classic non-diatonic outro turnaround provided.
