WHEN THE “DOO-WOP PUNK” OF THE BAND LOCKSLEY (AND THEIR LATEST RELEASE
Be in Love) caught the ear of Kinks legend Ray Davies, he not only brought them on tour as his opening
act, he also made them his backup band. Lead guitarist Kai Kennedy talks about the gig
Ray Davies, Jordan Laz, Jesse Laz,
and Bill Shanley (left to right).
“I don’t think either of us in this band would have ever picked up a guitar if it hadn’t been for
the Kinks, says Kennedy. “The early stuff is incredibly exciting, and you can hear that in most of
the songs we play. For the first time in a long time, we were nervous going on stage. You know
that if you screw up, you happen to be screwing up some of the best songs of all time. It definitely
keeps you on edge.”
