Lakewood Guitars Launch First Signature Model in Company39s History

February 23, 2010

There have been many signature models by many different guitar makers in the past. Famous artists contribute to the design and specifications of an instrument and let their ideas and wishes flow into the creation process – that’s the conception.

Lakewood now allows itself to top it up with another new idea and thus redefines the term “signature.” The famous artist himself is personally playing the instrument in order to break it in!

For Lakewood Guitars it is the first signature model in the company’s history. Martin Seeliger: “For us it is quite obvious who gets the honor of being our first signature artist – German fingerstyle icon Ulli Bögershausen. No one has been in the picture for Lakewood Guitars like he has. Nobody in the almost 25 past years has been associated with Lakewood as strongly as he has. Ulli had become the Lakewood ambassador years ago, when he actively rallied enthusiasts, fans, and music lovers to himself. He’s the right guy to be honored with this model.” Ulli Bögershausen was involved when the guitar was developed and gave ideas how to make it a very good fingerstyle guitar. Just a few points: The guitar has a high class AAAA European spruce top, Ziricote back & sides, cutaway, 46mm nut width, Lakewood Sonic System, open-pored satin finish, and Schaller M6 gold tuners with ebony buttons.
But the crux is yet to come, because even for Ulli the work is not done at this point: He will play on every single guitar himself for about 20 to 30 hours in order to play it in. Of course, that means that the number of guitars is strongly limited and that there is a certain price to pay for the instrument.
You can now apply for one of the instruments at your local dealer or at Lakewood Guitars.
