The Cute Lepers were started by Steve E. Nix of Seattle-based punk rock group, The Briefs. Already longtime fans of The Briefs, Joan Jett and Blackheart VP Carianne Laguna constantly air their music on “Joan Jett’s Radio Revolution” on Sirius Satellite Radio. Once word got around that Nix was reconfiguring his band and forming The Cute Lepers, Jett and Laguna immediately signed the band to the Blackheart family.
As an indie label that handles their own distribution, Blackheart Records continues to release all of Joan Jett’s albums, and with the creative vision of Carianne Laguna they also concentrate on signing younger bands like The Cute Lepers that fit the spirit of the label. Expressing her excitement for their latest signing, Laguna says, "The Cute Lepers are an awesome blend of mod, punk and rock n’ roll. Joan and I immediately fell in love with their genuine sound and we’re very excited to have them on Blackheart. We are both Briefs fans, so we knew whatever Steve E. Nix and some of the others were up to was going to be great."
ABOUT BLACKHEART RECORDS:
