Jimmy Herring, Wayne Krantz & Michael Landau Tour as The Ringers (With Audio)

January 10, 2014
Billed as the Ringers, guitarists Jimmy Herring, Wayne Krantz, and Michael Landau—joined by drummer Keith Carlock and bassist Etienne Mbappe—first debuted in 2013 for an exclusive tour of the East Coast. The tour went well, successfully fusing their varied backgrounds in rock, funk, jazz, blues, and African styles into a coherent whole, and leading to lots of great guitar moments in the process.

“I am lucky,” says Krantz. “I get a guitar lesson from Mike and Jimmy every night.”

The Ringers head back out on the road for several weeks starting on January 18th (see the Tour Itinerary below), this time with Gary Novak on drums.

“It’s really been great so far,” says Landau. “Jimmy and Wayne have their distinctive voices on guitar and I’ve been a fan of both of them for a long while now. Having three guitars makes the band easy to write for—guitar players are always wishing for an extra hand or two—so this has been a blast.”
“I've admired each of these musicians for a long time, and this gig is all about having fun,” enthuses Herring. “The idea is to keep things simple, which leaves plenty of room for each band member to easily bring their personality into the music. There's a big emphasis on groove and it's a blast to see where it takes us each night.”
