Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes kicks off June 18
April 18, 2013
|A new symphonic project celebrating American musical icon Jerry Garcia and featuring Warren Haynes will bow this summer, as the 71st anniversary of Garcia's birth approaches. This groundbreaking orchestral adventure - curated by the Garcia family - will feature his storied original compositions as well as classic interpretations of timeless standards that were hallmarks of Garcia and the Grateful Dead's shows.
GRAMMY-winning vocalist/guitarist Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule) will lend his soul-soaked, introspective blend of rock, blues, R&B and jazz to Garcia's masterworks. Haynes brings an intimate knowledge of the material, having performed extensively with The Dead and Phil Lesh & Friends. He will be collaborating with some of the country's most respected symphonies - The Boston Pops, the Colorado Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony.
The premiere performance of the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration Featuring Warren Haynes will take place on June 18at Heinz Symphony Hall in Pittsburgh, PA. After concerts along the East Coast and at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, the tour will head to Garcia's hometown of San Francisco, where Haynes will perform at Davies Symphony Hall on August 1 - which would have marked Garcia's 71st birthday - and on August 2. The tour will conclude on August 4 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. See below for a full itinerary. Additional information and tickets are available at:
