Gretsch and NASCAR Legend Kyle Petty Raise Funds for Children's Camp

July 2, 2008

An online auction for a Gretsch Nashville guitar signed by NASCAR legend Kyle Petty will begin on July 10, 2008.  The proceeds from its sale will benefit the 14th Anniversary Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, which raises funds for and awareness of Victory Junction Gang Camp and other children’s charities.

Hosted online at ebay (item number 280240004548), the auction will close on July 20 in conjunction with the conclusion of the Charity Ride, an eight-day motorcycle ride led by Petty.  Charity Ride participants will travel from Traverse City, Michigan, to Savannah, Georgia. The guitar, a brand new professional series Gretsch 6120 Nashville that retails for more than $3,000, was built in 2000 and has only been played by Kyle Petty (an avid guitarist) for a few moments prior to the signing.  The Gretsch Foundation, the charitable arm of Savannah-based The Gretsch Company, donated the guitar to the Charity Ride to be signed by Petty during a recent visit to the camp.

“The Gretsch Company is thrilled to partner with Kyle Petty and Victory Junction,” said Fred W. Gretsch, president and CEO of the 125-year-old drum and guitar manufacturing company.  “Racing fans and music lovers worldwide will have the chance to bid on this one-of-a-kind instrument and, most importantly, support this fantastic cause.”

“I’ve been known to pick up a guitar from time to time, and I’ve always admired the instruments the Gretsch Company produces,” said Petty. “As we begin to lay the foundation for a second Victory Junction Gang Camp, we appreciate more than ever The Gretsch Company’s generous contribution.”

About Victory Junction Gang Camp
The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a not-for-profit organization founded by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife, Pattie, in honor of their son Adam. Located on 84 acres in Randleman, North Carolina., the camp opened its doors in 2004 to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe, and medically sound. The Pettys recently announced the opening of a second Victory Junction Gang Camp in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
