GP Presents Anders Osborne in SF at Brick & Mortar April 13--Win Tickets!

April 5, 2012
Although he’s best known as the unofficial poet laureate of Louisiana’s fertile roots music scene, Anders Osborne is a serious tone junkie. His palette ranges from bold and beautiful cleans to demonically overdriven noises. A devoted Strat cat, he uses an arsenal of amps including his signature Category 5 4x10 combo to craft his tones with the care of an old-world blacksmith. Read about how Osborne uses multiple amps here.

Osborne is an intense roots rock player, and he’s especially wicked when he whips out a slide. Osborne often attacks his Strat in altered tunings with a capo in the middle of the fretboard to produce a hallmark chime. Watch Osborne dish some dirt in D with “On the Road to Charlie Parker.”

Osborne’s greatest attribute his ability to conjure intimate feelings from the darkest depths and highest heights of his soul and share them through song via guitar and vocals. Osborne’s got a new CD, Black Eye Galaxy, coming out on May 1st on venerable Alligator records, and he will surely be featuring some frighteningly fresh material on Friday, April 13th at the Brick & Mortar. This date is worth doing for that along, and there’s more.

SF’s own Tracorum uses rock & soul songwriting as a creative springboard to explore all sorts of roots music. Guitarist Derek Brooker killed at GP’s Jeff Beck tribute, and we’re looking forward to watching him power his main band’s charged eclectic live show.

Opener Fiver Brown is a songwriter who knows how to get feet stomping whether he chooses to go solo, or play with his mighty band, so don’t be late.
