GP Presents “A Tribute to the Life of Owsley ‘Bear’ Stanley and the Musical Spirit of Jerry Garcia” at the 33rd Annual Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, CA—Friday, June 10—Win Tickets!
Featuring: Steve Kimock, Jesse McReynolds, Moonalice, the David Nelson Band and members of Railroad Earth
In nearly seven years of GP Presents events, we’ve done all-star tributes to Grant Green, Duane Allman, Jeff Beck, and Jimi Hendrix, but we’ve waited patiently until the right circumstances arose to tackle the Bay Area’s most famous 6-string ambassador. It’s high time GP Presents paid respects to Jerry Garcia, and there’s no better place to do it than at the 33rd annual Harmony Festival.
With headliners including Michael Franti & Spearhead, the Flaming Lips, and Primus, Harmony 2011 is poised to be the best ever. And with performances by Steve Kimock, Jesse McReynolds, Moonalice, the David Nelson Band and members of Railroad Earth, this Garcia tribute will reinforce the fact that there was a lot more to Jerry Garcia than hippie hype—the cat could play. Garcia’s stylistic influence is as strong (or stronger) than that of any classic rocker, and is evidenced in legions of today’s players, especially those in the thriving jam band scene that he helped spawn.
This is a special Harmony “After Dark” show at 10pm in Harmony Hall on the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA, on Friday June 10th. The Harmony Festival has lots of different ticket packages available here.
Make a commitment to represent your love for the King of the Haight now, and tell all your Dead-loving friends that all fine details are posted here and here.
GP Presents is sponsored by D’Addario and Planet Waves.
