Canadian based Godin Guitars is proud to once again present this years’ Montreal Guitar Grand Prix. In its 7th year, this event is open to guitarists of all ages and takes place on September 29th and 30th, 2012. The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, whose mission it is to encourage music making among the masses, established the Montreal Guitar Grand Prix to promote and develop the talents of local guitarists and allow them to showcase their musical ability on stage in front of a live public audience.
The contestants are permitted to perform in a maximum of 2 categories of their choice, which include: Classical, Acoustic (fingerstyle, fingerpicking or flatpicking), Jazz (archtop or gypsy) and Blues/Rock. Prizes include thousands of dollars worth of musical equipment supplied by Godin Guitars and Archambault Musique, alongside the Montreal Guitar Show and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.

The preliminary auditions take place over the 2-day event, in front of a panel of judges, at the Savoy du Metropolis in Montreal. The final auditions will be held before an audience at L'Astral (Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan) on Sunday, September 30th, beginning at 8:00 p.m. The three finalists selected for each category during the preliminary auditions will compete in the final auditions.
