Drew Valentine

January 20, 2006

Guitarist: Drew Valentine

Age: 24

Style: Alternative rock, hard rock, flamenco, fingerstyle

Influences: Josh Homme, Jimmy Page, Bryan Kehoe, Chet Atkins

Main Guitar: Fender John 5

Location: San Francisco, CA

Background: Valentine began playing guitar at the age of 12, and studied with Joe Stump during a summer program at Berklee College of Music. Listening to Chet Atkins taught Valentine that making a strong statement does not always stem from playing a flashy solo, and he strives to create specific moods with his playing. Valentine’s music is inspired by Jane’s Addiction and some of Led Zeppelin’s darker material, though, more recently, he has garnered inspiration from Queens of the Stone Age—particularly Josh Homme’s use of textures and harmonies. Currently the lead singer and guitarist for Vin Rouge, Valentine is working on a self-financed CD.
