Background Mills began playing guitar and banjo at age 11, winning contests for both instruments at the Julian California Bluegrass Festival at age 13, and the Topanga California Bluegrass Festival one year later. After discovering his father’s old Allman Brothers albums, Mills became interested in classic rock and blues. Mills avoids the heavy metal clichés employed by many guitarists his age, and his band, Roadhouse, has written three original songs, and released a self-produced live CD of classic-rock covers.
