Dave Matthews Band Caravan Coming to Governors Island This Weekend

WHAT: "Dave Matthews Band Caravan" is a traveling festival featuring a diverse array of artists performing on multiple stages.
WHO: A total of 18 acts will perform over the course of three days, with headliners Dave Matthews Band - known for such hits as "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby" and "Funny the Way it Is" - playing a full set each night. Dave Matthews Band is taking the year off from touring, so the "Caravan" marks its only performances of 2011. See below for daily artist line-ups.
WHERE: Governors Island, a 172-acre island in the heart of New York Harbor, will be the third stop for "Dave Matthews Band Caravan." Recently named one of America's coolest urban parks by Travel + Leisure magazine, Governors Island is a five-minute ferry ride from Lower Manhattan and Jersey City.
Free concert ferries will run back and forth continually, from 1pm on Friday and Saturday and 12:30 pm on Sunday until the concerts end and all patrons are off the island. Food and concessions will remain open as long as fans are on the island. The ferries will depart from Battery Park in Lower Manhattan and Liberty Harbor Marina in Jersey City, NJ.The Battery can be easily reached by subway, bus or car. Signage inside Battery Park will direct fans to the concert ferry line, which will begin at Slips 1 & 2, just a short walk from State Street. Parking is available for a fee in the garages located on West Street and South Street. To reach Liberty Harbor Marina, take the New Jersey Turnpike to exit 14C. After paying the toll, take the second exit ramp - "Jersey City/Christopher Columbus." Make a slight right onto Christopher Columbus Drive. In about seven city blocks, turn right onto Marin Blvd. and head towards the end. Parking is available in the ferry parking lot for a fee on a first come, first served basis. There are additional parking garages available in the adjoining neighborhoods.
Fans coming from afar are encouraged to visit Zimride to connect with others and share a ride to New York City. Additional information on transportation options here.

TICKETS: Single day and three-day tickets are on sale now at www.dmbcaravan.com and will be available day-of-show at the festival box office/will call, which is located on Governors Island. Concertgoers do not need a ticket in order to ride on the free concert ferries.
"Dave Matthews Band Caravan" will come to New York City's Governors Island on August 26, 27 and 28. The traveling festival will feature performances by 18 artists, including a full set by headliners Dave Matthews Band each night and an acoustic performance by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds on Sunday, August 28.
Governors Island will be the third stop for "Dave Matthews Band Caravan," which has already visited Atlantic City's Bader Field and Chicago's Lakeside. Located in the heart of New York Harbor, fans can reach Governors Island via free concert ferries that will begin running at 1 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 12:30 pm on Sunday from Battery Park in Lower Manhattan and Liberty Harbor Marina in Jersey City, NJ. Concertgoers can purchase single-day and three-day tickets in advance at www.dmbcaravan.com. They may also be purchased on the day of the event at the festival box office, located on Governors Island. A concert ticket is not required in order to board the free concert ferries.
