Dave Davies on Recording with Power and Passion

November 7, 2013

“The most important thing is to be sure in your mind and heart that you have the song. That’s what gives you the confidence to get in there. Then, if you listen, the song will dictate what happens to it, and I’m sure that it doesn’t want all of its energy dissipated with overdubs and edits and worrying over tone and sound and what kind of mics and all you should record it with. If your song has a good feel, and a groove, and it has a good intention in it, does it really matter how you record it?” —GP, June 2002
