The 2012 music lineup was announced today for Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival, which is produced by non-profit arts organization One Reel and takes place over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-3, at Seattle Center. The 42-year-old urban festival stands on top nationally in its variety as it showcases both familiar and up-and-coming regional and national talent in many musical genres, as well as in comedy, theater, literary and visual arts, dance, film and children’s programming.

Bumbershoot’s Mainstage in KeyArena will feature two multi-act performances each day. Artists scheduled to perform there include groundbreaking alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction, jazz legend Tony Bennett, electronic phenom Skrillex, a hip hop double bill with Mac Miller and Big Sean, M83, and AWOLNATION among others. Additional Mainstage acts will be announced in coming weeks.

Tickets are all-inclusive. All festival offerings, including Mainstage admission on a first-come, first-served basis (no separate pass required), and late-night electronic music curated by Decibel Festival for Bumbershoot After Dark, are included in the price of a single-day or 3-day ticket.

Tickets for the festival are available for purchase now at the discounted price of $110 for 3-day admission and $40 for a single day-specific ticket. Prices will increase throughout the summer with a final day-of-show price of $135 for 3-day admission or $55 for a single day. This year the Any Day ticket returns for $45, allowing patrons the flexibility to purchase tickets now for less than day-of-show prices, but not have to commit in advance to specific days. BumberFans will have the opportunity to purchase Any Day tickets at an even lower price for a limited time, during the Insider Deal. Details and unique promotion codes will be sent only to BumberFans. Membership to the BumberFan Club is free at onereel.org/newsletters.

Platinum and Gold passes are also on sale for patrons who want the full VIP experience, including first-in-line admission to Mainstage performances and comedy acts, access to a hospitality lounge, merchandise and drink tickets, among other benefits. Additionally, for the first time, the festival is partnering with premier travel provider CID Entertainment to offer out-of-town patrons inclusive hotel and travel packages. Find tickets, packages, and related details online at bumbershoot.org/tickets.

The Bumbershoot philosophy has always been to offer a mixture of the familiar and well-loved with the rising star, often in juxtaposed sets to encourage unexpected discoveries, and is one way the festival differentiates itself from others year after year. In all, this year’s Bumbershoot will present more than 100 musical acts representing a broad spectrum of genres, including rock, hip hop, blues, jazz, electronic, global music, Americana, heavy metal, funk and soul.

“Every year we’re committed to present the most diverse festival lineup in the country,” said Chris Porter, Programming Director for One Reel. “This year is no exception—from well-known marquee acts to emerging artists, there is always something for everyone at Bumbershoot.”
