Bert Jansch Returns to the US In Good Health

November 9, 2010

Following his recent operation, which forced Bert to pull out of the Gulf Coast leg of the Neil Young U.S. solo tour as well as cancel a series of shows on the East Coast where Pegi Young (Neil’s wife) was due to open for Bert with her band, Bert is delighted to announce that the operation was successful and that he will return to the U.S. in December for six East Coast shows with the wonderful Pegi Young Band as special guest, and one in Philadelphia with the very lovely Meg Baird of Espers.
Bert was deeply disappointed to miss the shows in September and October, as he enjoyed every moment of touring as Neil's special guest over the summer, as well as the West Coast shows he played with the Pegi Young Band opening. Bert was also particularly disappointed to miss an appearance at Farm Aid, which he was very much looking forward to.
The new confirmed dates are:
WED DEC 8 – PHILADELPHIA, PA – Johnny Brenda's  (with Meg Baird)
THU DEC 9 – BOSTON, MA – Johnny D's (with the Pegi Young Band)
SAT DEC 11 – HARTFORD, CT – Wadsworth Atheneum (with the Pegi Young Band)
MON DEC 13 – VIENNA, VA – Jammin Java (with the Pegi Young Band)
WED DEC 15 – BROOKLYN, NY – Bell House (with the Pegi Young Band)
FRI DEC 17 – PITTSBURGH, PA – First Unitarian Church (with the Pegi Young Band)
SAT DEC 18 – BUFFALO, NY – Town Ballroom (with the Pegi Young Band)
Bert Jansch, legendary guitar player and songwriter, is one of the godfathers of modern music, and is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential musicians of all time. Without his influence, music as we know it today would be very different. Since the mid sixties generation after generation have been captivated by his extraordinary ground-breaking guitar playing and deeply affecting songs. Neil Young, Jimmy Page, Nick Drake, Johnny Marr, Bernard Butler and Beth Orton are just a few of Bert's devotees, and he is still going strong today, lauded by the newest generations of musicians to emerge and working with some of them on his highly acclaimed latest album The Black Swan. Last year (2009) Drag City also brought out the long-awaited first time CD releases of three albums Bert recorded in the 1970s for The Famous Charisma Label: the seminal LA Turnaround, Santa Barbara Honeymoon and A Rare Conundrum. These most sought after albums in Bert's catalog had been out of print for decades and had never been available on CD before. The Drag City reissues (on both CD and handsome new vinyl packages) include all the original artwork as well as lyrics, new sleevenotes and newly discovered bonus tracks personally selected by Bert himself. Bert is also working on new material as we speak.
