The hardest stuff comes later in the song, but, nonetheless, the intro has a touch of that hard edge, particularly the second time through, when an overdriven guitar comes in on another track, doubling the line. Putting both those elements in the same tune was fun. The trick with the phrasing on this lick is not to be too metronomically strict. If you listen closely to the song, you’ll realize that as fast as they’re played, the sixteenths are actually somewhat swung, which keeps things feeling light and loose.
