WARNING! If you’re allergic to world class musicians, The 5th Annual Guitar Town at Copper Mountain, Colorado, August 7-9, could be dangerous to your health. The world's best guitarists come together for three days of amazing FREE entertainment with live performances, guitar and songwriting workshops, kids’ music activities, and two free screenings of the award-winning film, Rock Prophecies, presented by Samsung Memoir. This year's impressive slate of performers includes Tommy Emmanuel, John Jorgenson, Pete Huttlinger, Laurence Juber, Mick Taylor, Brent Mason, Duane Eddy and many more (see complete list below). Visit the Guitar Town website at villageatcopper.com/guitarTown/. This year’s festival kicks off Friday, August 7th with a day-long workshop led by National Fingerstyle Champion Pete Huttlinger. Saturday, August 8th, features an all-acoustic line-up led by Tommy Emmanuel. One of only three guitarists to be bestowed the title of CGF (Certified Guitar Player) by Chet Atkins, Tommy has also been named the 2008 Gold Acoustic Fingerstyle Guitarist by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Festival favorite John Jorgenson, also an Acoustic Guitar Magazine Gold Award Winner in the 2008 Acoustic Jazz category, returns with his Gypsie Jazz ensemble, The John Jorgenson Quintet. Former Wings guitarist and acoustic virtuoso, Laurence Juber, returns for his second appearance at Guitar Town. Slack Key King Daddy, Led Kaapana, brings a new dimension to this year’s festival as does fingerstylist Preston Reed, known for his highly individual and percussive style. Two players making their Guitar Town debuts this year are the aforementioned Pete Huttlinger, and Tommy Emmanuel protégé, 17-year-old Joe Robinson, who won Australia’s Got Talent 2008. Opening the show and MC’ing the weekend as he does every year is L.A. fingerstylist Scott Goldman. The acoustic jam that ends the day with all of the above players promises to be a once in a lifetime magical musical event that can only be seen at Guitar Town. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and the original Rock Guitar Hero, Duane Eddy, headlines the electric line up for Sunday, August 9th. Former Rolling Stones guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Mick Taylor, starts his U.S. tour at Guitar Town. In 2007 when Brent Mason guested with John Jorgenson’s Electric Band, he mentioned that he would like to return with his band. Brent’s band, The Players, are making one of their rare out of town appearances. Comprised of drummer Eddie Bayers, bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist John Hobbs and steel guitar player Paul Franklin, in addition to Brent, their day jobs as Nashville “A Team” studio players rarely give them time to go on the road as a band. Another first timer to Guitar Town is Grand Ole Opry member, music historian and multi-instrumentalist Marty Stuart, along with his band The Fabulous Superlatives, which also features the hot licks of guitarist Kenny Vaughn. Returning for his fifth Guitar Town appearance is festival favorite songwriter and blues rocker Mark Selby. The jams that end the electric day are fast becoming legendary. This year’s jam with The Players backing, Duane Eddy, Mick Taylor, Marty Stuart, Mark Selby and a couple of unannounced surprises are guaranteed to leave the musicians and guitar junkies with a long lasting fix.
