gp1310_comm_digrig1_nrA couple of years ago, I felt the need to complement my Peavey Falcon Classic guitar with something of a different flavor. I decided on a secondhand Washburn HB35 semi-hollowbody, and I just love it. It’s a great guitar for semi-clean arpeggios or full-on overdriven riffing. I run the guitars through a Dunlop Cry Baby, an Ibanez TS-10 Tube Screamer, a Pro Co Rat, a DOD compressor, a Boss TR-2 Tremolo, an Artec Analog Delay, and a Dunlop Uni-Vibe.

One of the most important parts of my rig is a Sovtek Mig 50 head that I bought new in the ’90s. It’s a great amp on its own, but I had it modified by Swedish ampmodder Tommy Folkesson, who gave it two channels with Class A overdrive. This gives me my main dirt for rhythm and lead playing, and then allows me to push it further with the TS-10 and the Rat. I plug the amp into a Marshall 4x10 for smooth punch in a handy size. This rig can easy fill a 200-seater, but it also sounds great in much smaller rooms. —ERIK HOLKE, GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN

It’s simply awesome! I heard about few more works of swedish ampmodder Tommy Folkesson and all of them are great! He’s a real master! These amps sound wonderful in any rooms, no matter big or small! I’d like to listen to them more often…

If you search for "tommy folkesson amp" on youtube you'll get some clips to watch and listen to. I'm sure Tommy himself will guide you to some recordings where you can hear them or give you the names of some dealers who carries his moded amps. His webpage is: www.tommy-folkesson.nu (Mostly in Swedish) and the e-mail is: tommy.folkesson@swipnet.se Good luck!
