Re: Not-So-Cheap Tricks: The Guitars of Rick Nielsen
I first saw Cheap Trick in the mid-70's, at a small bar in Champaign, IL (U. of Illinois), before they had any records out. Most recent time was backing up Aerosmith during their 2012 tour, at the Oakland Arena. In between there were shows at such venues as Navy Pier in Chicago (during Chicago Fest), and Milwaukee, WI. Always a great show. Besides Rick's always tasteful playing, Robin Zander is a great vocalist, and Tom Petersson is a very inventive and talented bassist. (Not to slight Bun E. Carlos, but he wasn't on drums during last year's show. Rick Nielsen's son Daxx was on drums, and did a great job.)

Re: Not-So-Cheap Tricks: The Guitars of Rick Nielsen
Rick's cover from November 1979 was the first guitar magazine that I ever bought. Thus began my obsession...

Re: Not-So-Cheap Tricks: The Guitars of Rick Nielsen
Rivera amps for his tone....what tone. Not the consumate guitar player to say the least. No memorable licks, just a stoopid Bowrey Boy look for decades. Can't believe hat has been, or should i say never was, on your cover.
Re: Not-So-Cheap Tricks: The Guitars of Rick Nielsen
Now I know what all those folks in Seattle must feel like when they see Cobain on the cover of something! Living (and essentially) growing up in Rockford, IL (Cheap Trick's hometown!) seeing Neilson on the cover is like seeing someone you know on the nightly news! So many of the folks my dad grew up with (including him) knew all the Cheap Trick guys from high school and Neilson's sons are always playing local spots around town... Thanks so much for putting Rick on the cover! He's an absolutely WONDERFUL guitarist - I'd even beg to say one of the best rhythm guitarists I've ever heard - and has absolutely EARNED his place on GP! Great work and thanks again!

that isn't a 58 standard it's a 68 conversion, rick leaves the real vintage bursts at home.
Re: Not-So-Cheap Tricks: The Guitars of Rick Nielsen
THANK YOU for still featuring cover stories about my all-time favorite band, Cheap Trick! CT fan since 1979.

Re: Art Thompson: Victoria 20112 Combo
Art, this is a seriously good amp. Players have to listen with their.ears, not eyes to fully appreciate it. Everything you need is there, nothing you don't need is present. The tone knob is all the eq you will ever need on this amp. None finer.
