Jude isn’t ashamed to admit a disco groove changed his life. It was 1978, and the instant he heard funky drums, slapped bass, and phase-shifted guitar pumped loudly through a pair of woofers, he knew it was his destiny to become a musician. He went on to earn a music degree from UC Berkeley, study with Tuck Andress and Joe Satriani, and work with JGB, George Clinton, 2 Live Crew, Third Eye Blind, Stuart Hamm, Kirk Hammett, and Eddie Money. His most surreal gig was a “head-cutting duel” with Spinal Tap’s David St. Hubbins.

If you’re like a majority of guitar players, you don’t own a baritone guitar and possibly have never even played one—at least not for more than a few moments at your local music emporium. So why, then, should you care about an extensive ...

- Zakk Wylde’s Sensitive Side March 2008
It’s hard to name a hit rock song that doesn’t have a strong guitar part. Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mama, I’m Coming Home” certainly isn’t one such tune, because it’s got a great guitar part. Zakk Wylde’s tender intro on the 1991 power ballad—similar ...
