What is unique or original about your approach to the guitar? Instead of listening to another artist and trying to learn their solos and licks verbatim, I try to get a sense of their vibe, feel, and who they are, and then interpret it in my own way. I don’t really have a catalog of licks, I just try to react to the music and let it happen. The guitar is just a tool— we’re responding to the music first and foremost.

What’s the best thing about playing guitar? Being in the moment—nothing else matters.

Why did you enter GPGS 2010? I had done a couple of videos, and I figured, “Why not?”
