AC/DC Kick Off First Tour in Five Years at Coachella Opening Night | VIDEO

April 13, 2015
AC/DC kicked off their first tour in five years with a ground-shaking performance at Coachella this past Friday, April 10. Their previous tour for the album Black Ice concluded in 2010.

Singer Brian Johnson got things off to a start by telling the audience, “I hope you enjoy rock and roll. Because that's all we know how to do.”

Their 20-song set was a rousing conclusion to the first day of Coachella’s performances. Guitarist Angus Young was in great form throughout the show, duckwalking across the stage and blazing away on his Gibson SG.

AC/CD’s tour will be in support of their latest album, 2014’s Rock or Bust.  It will be the band’s first tour without founding rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who has left due to illness and dementia. His spot is filled by his and Angus Young’s nephew, Stevie Young. The band also features its once-former drummer Chris Slade on the kit, replacing Phil Rudd.

The tour commences in earnest on May 5 in Arnhem, Holland, and concludes in Melbourne, Australia, on December 6. North American performances take place from August 22 through September 26. Check ACDC.com  for complete dates and information.

No official videos of the group’s Coachella performance have been uploaded yet, but below are two audience videos for “Back in Black” and “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” that are of above-average quality, based on what’s currently available.
