AC/DC will wrap up their Rock or Bust tour with Axl Rose as their lead singer on June 12. But that almost certainly won’t be the end of the band, according to drummer Chris Slade.

In a recent Facebook post, Slade addressed complaints from some fans that the band should have called it quits after lead singer Brian Johnson departed due to hearing difficulties.

“Of course, everyone would like it to be Brian up there, but unfortunately, due to his health problems, this is not possible,” Slade writes. “Axl is doing a wonderful job, and the majority opinion now is that the band were right to finish the Rock or Bust tour with him. Fans have the opportunity to go to the shows or not, it is entirely their choice or indeed their loss.”

One fan on the Facebook thread wondered why the band’s set list has changed so frequently on recent dates. “Maybe because [Angus] wants to play them and he's thinking of retiring (hope not),” the fan pondered, “or he just wants to play some of the old songs that's rarely played at all anymore.”

In response, Slade wrote, “Angus is definitely NOT thinking of retiring.”

As for who will front the group after the tour, that’s another matter entirely. Rose has already said he’s ready to take on the role. In an interview with BBC 6 Music's Matt Everitt, Rose noted the group has to play a few makeup dates in the U.S.

“I think after that, it’s about what they wanna do,” he said. “I’m in if they want me in, and we’ll sort it out, but right now that’s getting ahead of ourselves with everything else that's on the table.”

Meanwhile, Rose has a summer tour scheduled with the revamped lineup of Guns N’ Roses featuring Slash and Duff McKagan. The tour begins June 23 in Detroit and concludes August 22 in San Diego.
