Tommy Castro, Deanna Bogart Win Blues Music Awards

Blind Pig recording artists Tommy Castro and Deanna Bogart were named winners of the prestigious Blues Music Award in a ceremony held last week at the Grand Casino in Tunica, Mississippi. The BMAs are presented annually by The Blues Foundation of Memphis to honor excellence in the blues field.
Castro received a Blues Music Award for best "Contemporary Blues Album" for his latest studio masterpiece, Painkiller. The John Porter-produced album was also named "Album of the Year" earlier this year by the readers of Blueswax, and was just issued on vinyl as part of Blind Pig's Vinyl Masters audiophile LP series. In anot her major honor, Castro was also named the winner of the Blues Music Award as "B.B. King Entertainer of the Year."
Dynamic piano player and saxophonist Deanna Bogart, who recently has been touring with Castro as part of the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Revue, won the Blues Music Award for best "Instrumentalist - Horn."
