Wielding Bigsby equipped semi-hollow, acoustic and lap-steel guitars—echo-drenched, oddly modulated, and often “prepared” in various ways—Angell sculpts pensive atmospheres of cinematic scope ranging from aural vignettes to a nine-piece ensemble work featuring brass and piano, with Fripp & Eno-inspired textural looping, piano, double bass, and haunting female vocals interspersed along the way. Superb. STA.
