Certainly one of the most versatile jazz guitarists around, Coryell enlists the S.F.-based Wide Hive Players to create a funky, bluesy album with Grant Green-style soul. The “acid” touches—mainly filter effects, wah, and distortion on Coryell’s solos—give it a modern flair, but his lovely pure acoustic playing on tunes like “The Last Drop” and the angular “One for T.G.” is as trad as it gets. Wide Hive Records.
